Mostly when I paint a mixture of processes are combined to create the effect that I desire.  Firstly it is probably for me the most intensive creative process of all the things I do.

My work is influenced by everything which I have interest in for example, my study of the dharma, my training in and teaching of martial arts, the creatures which live alongside us, my garden and the creative energy of other artists both performing and visual. Musically, the sounds of many creative artists from Led Zeppelin to Bruch to Anthony and the Johnstons continue to charge me.  The writings of so many authors still resound in my memories, His Holiness The Dalai Lama, Diana St. Ruth and Paulo Coelho being some whose words have enlightened. Visually I gain much inspiration from a rich history of artists such as Heironymous Bosch, Honore Daumier, Auguste Rodin, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Zoran Music, Kathe Kollwitz, Mark Rothko, Egon Schiele, Anthony Gormley, Andy Goldsworthy and many others.

My painting is also affected by my ethics and how they interact with my everyday experiences and what is happening in the world, my relationships with people living and those no longer alive and inevitably by the changing moods which are characteristically human.  Finally, intuition plays an important role in both my paintings and in my workbooks and how I research and develop the visual image.
